Salish Sea Ecosystem Conference
Call for Abstracts: Due May 27, 2011
Vancouver, British Columbia
You are invited to submit an abstract for the Salish Sea Ecosystem Conference. Set for October 25-27, at the Sheraton Wall Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia, this not-to-be-missed event is the largest, most comprehensive research and policy conference in the region. The 2011 conference, co-hosted by Environment Canada and the Puget Sound Partnership, presents the latest scientific research on the Puget Sound/Georgia Basin ecosystem.
Abstracts will be considered for a range of previously selected topics related to the Salish Sea ecosystem. Abstracts are due May 27 and can be submitted online. To learn more about submitting an abstract or registering for the conference, visit www.salishseaconference.org.
The conference serves as a dynamic forum for scientists, policy-makers, resource managers, students, researchers, and other stakeholders. Together, participants explore the state of the science, look for ways to collaborate across borders, and share information to reinforce the strong foundation of research, policy, and management practices critical to protecting and restoring this unique ecosystem.
Join us for a program packed with peer-to-peer interactions, field trips, cultural celebrations, knowledge transfer, and practical collaborations. Also, the SeaDoc Society will award its 2011 Salish Sea Science Prize at the conference (www.seadocsociety.org/ssp). Nominations for this award are due June 15. The $2,000 prize is given to highlight the importance of science in providing a foundation for designing a healthy Salish Sea.
