Multi-disciplinary teams of 3-5 students will carry out a final term project that has been developed in advance by a group of graduate students in collaboration with UBC Operations Staff. Groups and topics will be assigned in the first week of the course. The project is broken down into six components. If a group does not meet the expected requirements for one component, they need to take feedback from the instructors into account and integrate this into the future course work. The components build upon each other and step students through the process of completing a final synthesis report and a final presentation that are due at the end of the semester. The results of the four first components are weighted into the grading of the synthesis report and the final presentation, which then forms the basis for the final assessment.
The project will be assessed, in part, on the basis of how well it meets the needs of the client (UBC). Other evaluation criteria are specified in the project briefs. All group members will receive the same grade for the project.
