CONS 102 (499A): Assessment

Students will be evaluated on course participation, contribution to group discussions, and an essay research paper.

Lecture Participation Understand various facets of UBC operations Ability to pose thoughtful, well-articulated questions
Discussion Groups Develop discussion skills, including active listening and oral communication skills Ability to engage in a meaningful dialogue and increase your understanding of the topic
Critical thinking Analyze social, economic and environmental impacts of alternative technical solutions Capacity to write a short essay on a chosen sustainability theme
Active Participation (20%)

(i) Contribution to group discussion on Tuesday discussion sessions, and (ii) Posting of questions and comments on course blog.

Final Essay (80%)

Each student will select one of the course theme areas and write an essay on the issues discussed by the presenters, the relevance and applicability to UBC with a focus on additional approaches that could be considered by UBC operations or researchers.
